The winery was founded in 1999 from Massimo Diotti’s passion
for Gavi. Massimo’s goal is to create high quality wines that are a
pure expression of Gavi. San Matteo’s 10 hectares are located in
San Cristoforo, in the Gavi DOCG production zone. This growing
region is blessed with varying microclimates from different
altitudes and sun exposures. The diverse climatic conditions and
mineral soils are ideal for cultivating Cortese grapes, considered
the Piemonte “king” of white wine grapes.
