Kermit Lynch:

Domaine du Salvard’s rosé of Pinot Noir and Gamay is what I think of as “perfect lunchtime wine”—youthful red berries and a refreshing zip of citrus lend themselves well to just about any fare from hearty salads to comforting soups, grain bowls to juicy burgers. Lighthearted and decidedly energetic, it almost goes down too easily.

An exquisitely balanced rose – like spring in a glass. A must for rosé lovers, it’s both simple and complex at the same time. Salvard has walked that fine line of keeping fruit and acidity completely in check. Delectable.

• Domaine du Salvard has been a working domaine since 1898, through five generations of the Delaille family. Today the vineyards are farmed by the brother team of Emmanuel and Thierry Delaille, with help from their father Gilbert.

• Until finally achieving A.O.C. status in 1993, Cheverny was widely regarded as one of the best V.D.Q.S. (Vin de Qualité Superieur) of the Loire. 65% Pinot Noir & 35% Gamay.
