93/100 – VertdeVin
91/100 – Decanter World Wine Awards

This award-winning 2022 Quincy from rising star Adèle Rouzé in the heart of the Loire is a standout wine. Taking 91 points in the 2023 Decanter World Awards, it’s a delicious Sauvignon Blanc which our Tasting Panel urge Members not to miss—even at the usual retail price of £20 to £23 a bottle it’s good value, but for our Members it’s a mere £15.75 a bottle delivered.

Note the DWWA judges: ’91/100 – Attractive ripe guava and peach wrapped up in floral and grassy overtones; zingy, fresh and packed with a citrus punch.’

This delicious, complex wine is the work of Adèle Rouzé, a young vigneron from a family of great Quincy winegrowers. She built her own domaine using parcels planted in the 1920s, ’30s, and ’50s. Rather than make a selection of wines, she chose to focus all her energy on just the single Quincy. She does it all on her own, tending her 4.6 hectares of vines along the left bank of the Cher River, a tributary of the Loire. From working the vine all the way to fruition, she guarantees its authenticity and quality at every stage.

And the wine just gets better and better in every vintage. Notes VertdeVin of this 2022, ‘The nose, aromatic, tangy and chiselled: typical notes of Sauvignon Blanc: lemon, boxwood, cut grass, zest lime, complemented by a touch of gooseberries and passion fruit. There is also a touch of acacia and apple blossom. On the palate, the wine reflects that freshness and flavours: lemon juice, lime, passion fruit, gooseberries, cut grass. The finish is persistent, lively, with notes of fresh citrus. A precise, pure, chiselled and dynamic wine. 92-93/100.’

This is a refreshing and delightful aperitif, and excellent with food. Adèle herself recommends it with salmon tart and a mint and goat cheese omelette. The Club Tasting Panel highly recommend it with white fish, capsicum and goat’s cheese—and it is the perfect match for asparagus—summer lunch beckons! It is so good it could easily become your go-to Sauvignon Blanc.
