Summum Pinot Noir is only made in the greatest of years – and the fact that we’ve not vinified this cuvée since 2009 speaks volumes to the 2019 vintage. Fruit for this wine comes from the same vines as our La Source Pinot Noir, though from a selective first passing from which only the best fruit is collected. Our team carefully analyzes each plant – including the amount of clusters that it bears, the health of its canopy, and beyond – to choose which clusters will ultimately find their way into this meticulously crafted cuvée.
On the nose, floral-driven aromatics explode from the glass and carry over to the palate to mesh with flavors of wild black cherries, black tea, blood orange rind, and a touch of smoke. The wine’s juicy palate and soft tannins lead to an expressive, palate-coating finish that remains powerful yet light on its feet all at once. We recommend thoughtfully drinking these six bottles over the next ten years to fully appreciate its evolution.
